Two new chapters from the updated Big Book of Simulation Modeling, Multimethod Modeling with AnyLogic 8. For those learning AnyLogic it is the go-to text and is valuable for both beginners and professionals in simulation modeling.
The book introduces and explores the three main methods in simulation modeling: agent-based, system-dynamics, and discrete-event. Simple examples show how to combine these three modeling techniques in one model, for true multi-method modeling. The results demonstrate why such an approach is increasingly common for solving complex business challenges.
This is the third release of chapters for the new book and the links are below. You can find previous chapter releases for the new Big Book in our earlier blogs: The new Big Book of Simulation Modeling and More new Big Book of Simulation Modeling.
The new chapters
The first updated chapter in this blog is about statecharts and provides in-depth detail of how to use them with a variety of examples. The second chapter is devoted to 3D animation and how it can be used to help communicate simulation activity and results.
Designing state-based behavior: Statecharts
Statecharts are helpful in simulation modeling. They are used in agent-based models, and also work well with process and system dynamics models. In this chapter, learn how state charts let you define event and time driven behavior for various objects. Examples include machines, products, projects, and people’s lives and behavior. [Download]
3D animation
AnyLogic supports both 2D and 3D space in simulation models and enables you to create high-quality interactive 3D animations. This chapter introduces 3D shapes, importing shapes, cameras, lighting, animation and more. [Download]
