Dynamic Modeling Workshop & Training took place on 18-22 February 2013 at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney. Healthcare was the main field of simulation modeling application discussed there. The workshop’s target audience was simulation modeling specialists, researchers, practitioners and policy makers who wanted to advance their knowledge in dynamic modeling methods and see some examples of their use. 42 people attended the event. This year has started out with two back-to-back trade shows! At Promat 2013 – supply chain, manufacturing and distribution trade show – AnyLogic team showcased the demo models built to optimize the distributors/resellers network, average delivery time and terminal operations. Most of the feedback we got on the Adaptive Supply Chain, Flexible Manufacturing Supply Chain[/url] and Container Line models.

Some citations: "Frequently, the problem cannot completely conform to one modeling paradigm. Using a traditional single-method tool, the modeler inevitably either starts using workarounds (unnatural and cumbersome language constructs), or just leaves part of the problem outside the scope of the model (treats it as exogenous). If our goal is to capture business, economic, and social systems in their interaction, this becomes a serious limitation."

How to learn multi-paradigm modeling? “In AnyLogic training classes!” is an answer from 200 simulation practitioners who chose our courses in the year 2012. For the past months AnyLogic team delivered trainings to twelve cities in USA, France, Japan, Germany, South Africa, Russia, India and China. We are most proud of our students. The 2012 AnyLogic classes brought together researchers, consultants, academics from 48 organizations. AnyLogic 6.9 has been released! All AnyLogic users with valid maintenance are welcome to upgrade! We continue working on Pedestrian Library: in the new version you will see such new features as density map, collecting statistics on pedestrian flows, new behavior of pedestrian groups in services, area throughput definition. We added a number of new examples and made some other changes. Please upgrade to the latest AnyLogic version.

In December 2012 two remarkable simulation events took place in Berlin – Winter Simulation Conference 2012 and the first AnyLogic Conference on multimethod modeling. Both events attracted a lot of attention and we would like to share with you the materials we received during the conferences.

This November the AnyLogic team completed a roadshow to several Chinese universities and research institutes. The visit was organized by our partner in China, Beijing Carila Tech. This roadshow allowed AnyLogic users to interactively communicate with the developers. The agenda included a training course, workshop and several presentations.
