GIS Alternatives for AnyLogic

GIS Alternatives for AnyLogic

Hello Everyone! At The AnyLogic Conference 2013 I announced results of my recent research regarding GIS alternatives for AnyLogic and would like to share my experience. Using open source projects, a small amount of Java code and publicly available GIS data services, I was able to: - Display Tile map on model presentation with pan and zoom. Downloaded tiles are cached in model folder. - Switch different tile sources in runtime. - Display animation of agents living in GIS space shown on top of map. - Perform geocoding/reverse geocoding by parsing http query response. - Get routing data by parsing http query response.

"The Big Book of Simulation Modeling" available now!

"The Big Book of Simulation Modeling" available now!

“The Big Book of Simulation Modeling" is the only book that comprehensively presents all three methods, or paradigms, in simulation modeling: Agent Based, System Dynamics, and Discrete Event. It explains how to choose the right constructs of the modeling language to create a representation of a real world system that is suitable for risk-free dynamic experiments. The book is based on the modeling languages supported by AnyLogic, the software tool that enables a modeler to utilize all three methods and is the only one with the capability to combine them together in a single model. Written by the creator of the software, this book is the most in-depth information resource on AnyLogic and utilization of multimethod modeling that currently exists. It covers topics from building simple Agent Based models with statecharts to developing data exchange with external programs.
